USA Hockey Magazine is combining the best of both with the creation of a new contest that allows you to share your hockey adventures with players from around the country.
We’re calling our character “Flat Stanley Cup,” and we’re ready to see who can take him to the most interesting places this season.
1. All you need to do is download your own Flat Stanley Cup, cut him out and deck him out in your favorite team colors. Then take Flat Stanley Cup with you throughout the hockey season to your local rinks and when you travel to interesting hockey places around the hockey world.
2. Use your mobile phone or digital camera to take photos of your Flat Stanley Cup character and send them, along with a short explanatory note, to FlatStanleyCup@usahockey.org.
We’ll be creating a gallery blog USAHockeyMagazine.com (see galleries in sidebar) and Facebook page Facebook.com/usahockeymagazine where every entry will be posted, and readers can vote on their favorite Flat Stanley Cup adventure. The deadline for posting entries is March 31.
The top three entries and two staff selections will win a great prize from USA Hockey and have their photos published in an upcoming issue of USA Hockey Magazine.
*** Editors Note: As Flat Stanley Cup continues to make his way around the hockey world, USA Hockey Magazine would like to acknowledge Jeff Brown and his creation of Flat Stanley, which our character is loosely based on.
Created 45 years ago, Brown’s Flat Stanley books have promoted literacy all over the world, inspiring kids to share their adventures with Flat Stanley for generations.
We want to thank Mr. Brown and his creation for inspiring us to associate Flat Stanley with hockey in a fun and meaningful way. For more information about the Flat Stanley, visit flatstanleybooks.com.***
