Youth Olympic Games Blog Post: Final Day

For the next two weeks, Team USA's ice hockey team will be in Lillehammer, Norway, playing at the Youth Olympic Games. Every day, team leader TC Lewis will be blogging about the team's experiences as they gear up to try and bring home the gold. This is an insider's view that readers won't be able to find anywhere else. For more information on the Youth Olympic Games, click here.

What a great finish to a great time here in Lillehammer at the second Youth Olympic Games. A 5-2 victory over Canada in the gold medal game pretty much says it all but I might as well add a few more words.

Our staff couldn't have been prouder of the boys, win, lose or draw.  They were a dream to work with and I know we are all grateful.

As I type this, it is 10:30 p.m., the athlete party in the tent next to the rink is winding down and the players are making their way back to the dorms. Many of them of them are now signing on the floor with a bunch of their new friends from other sports.  The closing ceremonies weren't anything like the opening ceremonies but it was a nice way to finish the games.

The players will have a tough time getting to sleep tonight but we have a 5:15 a.m. wake-up call to pack the bus at 5:30 and depart for Oslo soon after that. It has been an unforgettable experience but I think everyone is excited to get back home.

Thanks again and GOOOOOOOLD!!!
